Welcome to Needy Stitches, we are glad you have joined us.

Please take a moment and join our yahoo group  http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/needystitches/

For the past few months I have taken up my old hobbies of knitting, crocheting and sewing in an effort to keep my hands busy when watching television or just having some time to spare. It did not take long before I had made things for family and friends so I went online to try and find a place to donate the things I had made. It seemed that either most of the places were in the U.S.A. or most of the websites were outdated and no longer viable, so I decided that there must be other people out there, who like me, know how to make things and have nowhere to donate them to, or do not know how to search for somewhere.

I thought about the hard economic times we are all facing and of all the needy families out there who barely scrape through after paying their expenses and thought it would be a wonderful idea to donate these things to those families and individuals in need. Nothing we create is for sale, that is the number one rule. I have done a lot of research on who requires what and will keep doing this so we can help as many organisations and people that we can.

I plan to place in this website lots of patterns, ideas and places that you can donate to, or you can send the finished articles to me and I will send them along at the beginning of each month. I would like to keep this mainly for Australian people as I believe charity starts at home and it will help to keep the postage costs down.

So if you can knit, crochet, sew or do anything creative please join in and help those in need. Whether you send a single item or 100, every little bit helps someone. If you have any ideas you would like to see incorporated in this site, or any suggestions on how to get the word out that we are here I would greatly appreciate it. I am open to any suggestions and will give each one my prompt attention.

Thank you both from myself and from those people we help
